Know the red flags before an “earning opportunity” gets your money or keys.

The fastest way to reduce scam risk is to recognize stop conditions early: guaranteed returns, pressure, advance fees and any request for wallet recovery secrets.

Stop conditions

Some signals are strong enough to end the conversation.

European supervisory guidance highlights promises that are too good to be true, guaranteed fast/high returns, urgency, unsolicited offers, suspicious links/apps and requests for private keys or seed phrases.

Never send or reveal a seed phrase or private key to unlock earnings, verify an account or receive a reward.

Those secrets control wallet funds. They are not KYC, support or payment credentials.

Guaranteed high return

Mining, market prices and promotional terms are variable. Fixed-profit language needs exceptional evidence.

Pay more to withdraw

Unexpected tax, verification, upgrade or release payments can be advance-fee fraud.

Urgency or secrecy

Pressure to act now, move chats off-platform or avoid independent verification reduces your ability to check the claim.

Seed/private-key request

Stop. A legitimate provider does not need the recovery secret that controls your wallet.

Verification workflow

Verify the provider before you verify the “opportunity”.

Scam pages often copy names, logos and professional layouts. Check the entity and domain independently instead of trusting links supplied in the message.

01
Type the official domain yourself.

Do not use an unsolicited link, QR code or download until the provider is independently verified.

02
Find the legal/provider identity.

Look for verifiable contact and registration information, then cross-check important claims against primary sources.

03
Separate payment from investment.

Payment for completed work has an identifiable payer and obligation. A claim that money will multiply simply because you deposit it is a different risk category.

04
Test withdrawal before increasing exposure.

A fake platform may display invented balances or allow a small early withdrawal to build trust. Do not treat a dashboard number as proof of funds.

Common patterns

Recognize the mechanism, not just the brand name.

Names and websites change. The economic and social-engineering patterns repeat.

Impersonation

Copied exchange or wallet support

A fake support agent asks for a recovery secret, remote-access software or a “safe” transfer.

Advance fee

Pay to unlock a balance

The platform claims a large balance exists but demands another payment before withdrawal.

Ponzi

Returns funded by new deposits

Consistent returns and recruiting rewards can hide a scheme with no underlying profit source.

Primary safety guidance

Current warning signals from European supervisors.

The factsheet explicitly lists guaranteed fast/high returns, urgency, unsolicited offers, suspicious links/apps and requests for seed phrases/private keys among warning signs.
